Workshops & Craft Parties

"[Abi's workshop] was a really lovely way for people to connect and ... was appreciated by everyone. I'd recommend her wholeheartedly." (Arts & Health Derbyshire)

Book your own craft workshop

**NB: For scheduled, ticketed workshops, please see my What's On calendar!**

Book a craft party or a workshop, and not only learn a new skill, and a new way of looking, but have a whole heap of fun in the process.  And you'll have something beautiful (or weird) to take away at the end of it!

I offer full tuition for all abilities, supply all materials, and include take-home worksheets and some swag to add to party bags 🙂 Prices are per person, with a minimum of six. For children's parties (min. age 9 years) the maximum group size is twelve participants, for adults it is twenty (I may be flexible on this, depending on circumstance and abilities).  Please get in touch and we can discuss your requirements.

Making masks

I am based in Sheffield, but may consider travelling further afield---just ask.  I am also available to run craft workshops at festivals and events. As well as the workshops detailed here, I can offer fun with willow weaving, mask making, papier mache, cross stitch, and work with pretty much any theme you like. I can turn my hand to many things, so please get in touch if you'd like something specific.

I can also teach workshops in your school or workplace, with a stronger emphasis on creative thinking. Helping people see the extraordinary in the ordinary. These workshops can also include input from other artists, so contact me to discuss details; I'm sure we can come up with something amazing.

Sock Monsters

This one really makes people happy!  Learn how to turn an ordinary sock into an extraordinary monster. Great fun for helping people who claim they have no creativity, and no sewing skills, to realise just how wrong they are.  Adults and children alike love this workshop - come on, learn to see the extraordinary in the ordinary. Approx. length: 2 hours

Fabric Flowers

Make beautiful, and surprisingly simple, flowers using just circles of fabric, buttons, and a few bits of ribbon. These can be made into brooches, hair-clips, corsages, used to decorate shoes, hats, hairbands and bags, or for whatever purpose you like. This workshop is fun, creative, and suitable for all skill levels - I once ran this for a business conference full of non and beginner-sewers, as well as for a hen party where everyone made matching wedding accessories for the big day! Approx. length: 1-2 hours

Hand embroidery (beginners)

So (sew) much easier than people fear. This embroidery is from a freehand drawing, and I can provide picture patterns too if you'd rather not draw.  Relaxing and fun, this is embroidery for complete beginners, where you will learn basic stitches, and explore different applications for your new skills. Standard workshop length is 2 hours, but this one can be shrunk or extended depending on how much you want to learn.

Teat Owls

The most common species of owl in the British Isles. I made these with a class of Y4s as part of their studies about 'WWII on the Home Front'. We talked about 'Make Do and Mend', and they learned how to sew something old (in this case, a pile of teatowels) into something new. Approx. length: 2 hours
